Windsor Framework Updates UK Medicine Laws 25 Sep 2024
From 1 January 2025, the Windsor Framework will simplify medicine licensing across the UK.
The MHRA will issue UK-wide licenses, replacing separate ones for Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Medicines will have the same packaging across the country.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. UK-Wide Licensing
A single UK Product Licence (PL) will cover the entire UK.
EU approvals will not be valid in Northern Ireland.
2. New Labelling Requirements
All UK medicines must have a ‘UK Only’ label to show they are only for sale in the UK.
Update your packaging by 31 December 2024.
3. Changes to Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD)
The FMD rules will not apply in Northern Ireland.
Take action today to meet these new requirements.
