Client Q&A: Dr Kathrine Scott, Gedeon Richter 24 Nov 2020
We were delighted to talk recently with Dr Kathrine Scott, Medical Director at Gedeon Richter and a longstanding PharmaMedic client. In this new Q&A article, we discuss Dr Scott’s experience of working with PharmaMedic and her perspectives on how the relationship adds value to Gedeon Richter’s work.
What is your role?
I’m Medical Director at Gedeon Richter, an international women’s healthcare company with Headquarters in Budapest, Hungary.
The role interacts with many different functions in the business. In an ever-changing environment, it can, at times, be challenging to cover all bases at the level of detail that is needed. The SARS-COV-2 pandemic has, of course, brought significant challenges to the pharmaceutical industry as a whole. We must also deal with the potential changes that will be required from us with Brexit around the corner. The latter will significantly increase the workload for our regulatory and pharmacovigilance parts of the business in particular.
Against this backdrop, Gedeon Richter UK has brought several products to market over a short period. We have successfully launched a couple of products over the lockdown period, and the help, expertise, and support of PharmaMedic have been invaluable.
When did you start working with PharmaMedic?
PharmaMedic initially started providing copy approval support to Gedeon Richter in November 2017. Then, after that, PharmaMedic provided Medical Director support before my post was recruited. PharmaMedic provided a very high degree of flexibility as to how they supported us and to what degree.
What support does PharmaMedic provide?
The team supports us with everything from ongoing copy approval to help with decision making on some of our key brands. Their expertise spans clinical knowledge, expert marketing interaction, understanding of regulatory needs, clinical trials, and compliance. The team has excellent commercial awareness, and they are very well networked. They have been very responsive to our needs throughout the time we have worked together. They have also supported us in becoming more process-driven and helped us to think about making efficiencies in how we work. These initiatives have been very impactful, as we are a small medical team.
What successes have you had through working together?
We have very successfully launched many products over the last three years, and this has been possible through the excellent support we receive via PharmaMedic. To support our most recent launches, the PharmaMedic team provided us with Medical Information letters and worked with the team on Advance Budgetary Notification. They also provided numerous informative briefings to our commercial team. Materials have been of high quality thanks to meticulous copy review. The PharmaMedic consultants are unfailingly approachable and have integrated seamlessly into the commercial and medical functions.
Because PharmaMedic work across numerous companies, they can bring worthwhile insights to us at Gedeon Richter. They get to see industry standards from a much broader perspective than we do and as this has been extremely useful during the pandemic. For example, they have guided us on virtual meetings and congresses.
It has been and continues to be an invaluable partnership.
