Leading Under Pressure: UK Pharma in an AI-Accelerated Era – Industry Leaders Gather for a PharmaMedic Forum in collaboration with Impactful Authenticity 21 Jul 2026

Senior leaders from across the UK pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors recently came together at PharmaMedic Consultancy’s latest executive forum, “Leading Under Pressure: UK Pharma in an AI-Accelerated Era.”

Bringing together Medical Directors, General Managers and other experienced industry professionals, the forum provided a confidential environment for open discussion on the strategic, operational and leadership challenges facing organisations as artificial intelligence continues to transform the pharmaceutical landscape.

Held under Chatham House Rules, the event encouraged candid and constructive dialogue, enabling delegates to share experiences, explore emerging opportunities and discuss the realities of leading organisations through a period of rapid technological change.

Discussions explored a broad range of topics, including the evolving role of AI within medical affairs and regulatory functions, maintaining compliance while embracing innovation, developing future-ready leadership capabilities, and balancing technological advancement with the human expertise that remains central to delivering better patient outcomes.

A recurring theme throughout the event was that while AI has the potential to reshape many aspects of pharmaceutical development and commercialisation, successful implementation will depend on strong leadership, clear governance and a continued commitment to scientific integrity and patient-focused decision making.

This year’s forum also introduced a formal three-course dining experience, allowing delegates to continue discussions and build valuable professional relationships in a relaxed setting following the main programme.

Commenting on the event, Dr Malcolm Barratt-Johnson, Managing Director of PharmaMedic Consultancy, said:

“Artificial intelligence presents one of the greatest opportunities our industry has seen in decades, but it also brings significant responsibility. The discussions at this forum demonstrated the importance of creating trusted environments where leaders can openly exchange ideas, challenge assumptions and learn from one another. It was encouraging to see such honest and thoughtful engagement throughout the day.”

PharmaMedic Consultancy would like to thank all delegates for their participation and valuable contributions, which helped make the forum a tremendous success.

As always, in accordance with Chatham House Rules, the discussions will remain confidential, with any future summaries or insights fully anonymised and no comments attributed to individual participants or organisations.

We look forward to welcoming colleagues from across the life sciences sector to future PharmaMedic forums as we continue to create opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing and leadership development.

If you are a General Manager/Medical Director or working in Medical Affairs as a key decision maker and would like to join us at future Forum, please email  Malcolm@pharmamedic.co to discuss further.
