BBSRC Invests £4M to Spark Innovation in Bioscience with 23 New Projects 17 Oct 2024
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) is investing £4 million to support 23 early-stage bioscience projects. This funding is part of its 2023 Transformative Research Technologies (23TRT) fund.
These projects cover a broad range of bioinformatic tools, including exciting areas such as bioimaging, gene editing, and protein engineering. These projects could transform bioscience research and help us understand how complex biological systems work.
This investment is a direct response to BBSRC’s 2022 technology review. showed that bioscience needs more funding to support innovation. It also highlighted the role of research technology professionals (RTPs). Six of the projects are led by funded RTPs — showing just how important they are to advance the projects.
2024 Research Fund
Looking ahead, BBSRC has launched the 2024 Transformative Research Technologies (24TRT) fund. Researchers and RTPs are encouraged to apply for more funding by November 28, 2024.
This initiative shows BBSRC’s commitment to push for innovation in bioscience and technology.
